The Brief

For the Italian launch of the new Magic8 Lite - the flagship model of its smartphone range - Honor sought a selection of premium brand ambassadors who embody its core consumer profile.
The brand sits within an accessible mid-range price segment, targeting a broad, mainstream audience looking for a durable, reliable product with great value for money.
Durability is the hero product feature and the primary USP of the campaign, focusing on water, shock, drop, and dust resistance - particularly when it comes to the screen.

The Challenge:
To translate a purely technical, literal product feature into an engaging social media campaign that captivates users while maximizing views.

Idea

The whole campaign was built around the concept of a resistance challenge, which took shape in many different scenarios: in the kitchen, on a football field,
in a rage room, at home with family or pets, on the snow, etc.
A simple, yet effective idea, able to turn a technical feature into a social format that could be used for the hero video, as well as influencer content or simple product posts.

Execution

Hero content featured sports and lifestyle host Diletta Leotta, comedian Frank Matano and chef Alessandro Borghese as main ambassadors, and football star Javier Zanetti as special guest.

The three ambassadors became the protagonists of a hero video showcasing a cooking challenge in which they had to test the Magic8 Lite by using it as a kitchen tool.

the video was shot to run both in vertical and horizontal format on YouTube, Instagram and Tik Tok, and edited in different cuts for a variety of media placements.

Each ambassador was then the protagonist of an additional short video, another challenge that was conceived
to fit their personality and lifestyle:

  • as Alessandro is a chef, but also a big music lover, we invited him to “play” kitchen tools - including the smartphone - and turn the resulting sounds into a music track;

  • Diletta met Javier Zanetti on a football field to test the phone’s durability during a series of football tricks;

  • Frank showcased his comedic talent in a rage room, where he was challenged to wreck the phone screen
    by using a series of objects.

The campaign continued with a series of social influencers who were invited to test the Magic8 Lite themselves: following the main concept, each test was turned into a different challenge, customized to the talents involved.
On the brand social channels, product content completed the campaign by diving deep into the smartphone’s technical specs and secondary feature beyond durability.
